FEELINGS OVER GRADES

Juan Gato said "When I was in college, I took a job with one of the local public schools to coach their 4th and 5th grade basketball teams. The league was one of those that didn't keep score, or track of fouls or really enforce the rules of basketball. When I told the kids before our first game about the no-keeping-score thing, two of them sing-songed together, "So that The Children™ won't feel bad about themselves." They saw right through it and kept track of the score in their heads anyway. Well, it was just a matter of time before this concept drifted to academics." (Posted by Eric on Juan Gato's Bucket of Rants, coquettishly borrowed by Indigo. Thanks, Juan and Eric. This was too topical not to share with my 3 readers!)
